Set Up Thunderbird
How to set up your IMAP account in Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird. If you've just installed Thunderbird, do not follow the setup wizard that starts automatically upon finishing the installation. Cancel the wizard and follow the instructions below; otherwise the screen shots will not match.
- Click “Tools” then click “Account Settings.”
- Select “Add Account.”

- Make sure “Email Account” is checked and click “Next.”

- Fill in your name and Email address and click “Next.”

- Select “IMAP” and enter “mail.neteasyinc.com” for the incoming server, then click “Next.”

- Type your full e-mail address for “Incoming User Name” and click “Next.”

- Name your account whatever you wish and click “Next.”

- Click “Finish.”

- Highlight “Outgoing Server (SMTP)” and click the “Edit” button.

- Enter “smtp.neteasyinc.com” for the Server Name. Enter 587 for the port (for information on the importance of using port 587, see the article here.) Make sure “Use Name and Password” is checked and type your complete e-mail address in the “User Name” box and click “OK.”

- Click “OK” once more.
The first time you check for email you will be prompted to enter your password. If you don’t wish to type your password each time, check the box that asks whether you wish Thunderbird to remember your password.
